BLACKBERRY Z3 AND Q20 UNVEILED AT MWC

blackberry-z3

As expected, BlackBerry took the wraps off its first Foxconn-built smartphones at MWC in Barcelona. The Z3 is a full touch affordable smartphone, while the Q20 takes the company back to its roots with a QWERTY keypad along with a trackpad. These devices will hit select markets around the globe in April.
Talking of specifications, the Z3 sports a 5-inch qHD (960×540 pixels) display and is powered by a Snapdragon 400 dual-core processor paired with 1.5GB of RAM. Other features include a 5-megapixel rear camera, 1.1-megapixel front camera, 8GB of internal storage and FM Radio.
The Q20, as mentioned above, sports a keypad along with a trackpad. The device flaunts a 3.5-inch, which also happens to be BlackBerry’s biggest display on QWERTY device.  It also has hardware keys for Menu, Back, Send and End alongside the trackpad. On the software front, the phone has all the BlackBerry 10 features such as BlackBerry Hub, enterprise connectivity with BES10.
The Canadian company hasn’t revealed any further details on either of the phones.

iPHONE USERS ARE MORE INTELLIGENT THAN ANDROID USERS ACCORDING TO A SURVEY

According to an online mental agility test, iPhone owners are more intelligent than Android users. Both smartphone consumer bases beat out Blackberry loyalists though, who came third in the survey.

The “Test of Wits was conducted by the British betting company, Ladbrokes. A thousand smartphone users took the multiple choice survey and iPhone users were able to complete the 7 trick questions in the quickest time possible: 94 seconds.
How do you think you will fare? Well here are some examples of the questions asked: “Some months have 30 days, some months have 31 days. How many months have 28 days?”. Some other questions are: “How many 9s are there between 1 and 100?”, and “How many legs do 2 dogs and 2 ducks have in total?”.
This isn’t the first time that smartphone users were pitted against one another. TalkTalk carried out a survey that was designed to take a look into the personalities of iPhone, Android, and Blackberry users. The results just confirmed pre-existing stereotypes.
Apple iPhone users were found to be the most arrogant and vain, ranking their personal appearance higher than others with different smartphones. Blackberry owners were found to earn the most money on average. What trophies did Android users walk away with? The most creative and most likely to get drunk.

BLACKBERRY Z10 PORCHE DESIGN

BlackBerry is a company in financial trouble, but it doesn’t act like it and it got a brand new Porsche – a Porsche Design P’9982 based on the BlackBerry Z10 that is. It’s an exclusive device, only 500 units will be sold worldwide.

So, what do you get for the extra cash over the pedestrian Z10? You can watch the official hands-on video to find out.
The luxury starts off with the box – it’s much bigger than the standard boxes most phones come in and inside there are several chargers so jetsetters don’t have to bother with adapters. There’s also Porsche Design headphones with tangle-free cables and a cloth. Inside each box you’ll find a PIN to confirm that you have indeed purchased an exclusive device.
The device itself is constructed out of satin-finish stainless steel frame and hand-wrapped backs of genuine Italian leather. An even more limited edition of the phone will feature genuine crocodile leather instead.
The software on the Porsche Design P’9982 is BlackBerry OS 10.2 with some modifications, including rectangular app icons and a new watch face (exciting stuff, I know).
If you thought that shelling out £1,500 / $2,400 for the phone is enough to get you all the goodies, think again. You can buy an optional leather carrying case (it’s a dilemma between protecting the expensive handset and not being able to enjoy its coveted design). There are also hand-crafted customized backs made of leather.
The Porsche Design P’9982 will be available on Novemenr 21 at Harrods, Knightsbridge in London, but also the much less fancy Carphone Warehouse and Selfridges. Again, the price is £1,500 / $2,400, more reasonable than the $6,600 Vertu Constellation but that’s not saying much. Also, FYI the hardware (other than the steel and leather) costs £180.
The limited crocodile leather edition will be launched later in December (price is unknown). Hopefully, people’s common sense wouldn’t have caught up to good taste by then.

THE NEW BLACKBERRY Z30

BlackBerry has just announced the Z30 - the smartphone with the largest touchscreen it has ever put into production. Moreover, the Z30 packs the company's latest version of BB 10 OS.

The BlackBerry Z30 has  a 5" Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. This makes the pixel density meter stop at 295 ppi.

And all of this is powered by  a 2,880mAh battery and measures 140.7 x 72 x 9.4mm. The larger battery found in the Z30 hasn't made it much thicker than the Z10 - the difference is just 0.1mm. The BlackBerry Z30 supports LTE as well as dual-band Wi-Fi 80211 a/b./g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC.
Z30 has a rear 8MP camera with an f/2.2 lens and 1080p video recording capabilities. Video chatting has been taken care of with an 2MP front-facing snapper, which records 720p video
The BlackBerry Z30 runs BB 10 OS version 10.2 out of the box. It brings some improvements to the BlackBerry ecosystem including BB Priority Hub, message previews in the lockscreen as well as Wi-Fi Direct support, multiple alarms and standard Unicode emojis.
BlackBerry hasn't specified any pricing or availability information just yet, but the Z30 is expected to hit the UK as early as next week.
